The short version. Kachimi has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no trackers. Your collection lives on your phone. Card photographs are matched on your device and are not uploaded. The only thing you can send us is a problem report, and only because you tapped a button asking to.
Who this is about
Kachimi is an iOS app made by an independent developer. This policy covers the app and the website at kachimi.app. If you have a question about anything here, write to [email protected].
Your collection stays on your device
The cards you scan, the folders you make, your wishlist and your collection history are stored locally on your iPhone. They are not uploaded to us, and we cannot see them. This also means they are yours to lose: deleting the app deletes that data, and we hold no copy that could be restored.
Photographs are matched on your device
When you photograph a card, the image is compared against a card index stored inside the app. The photograph does not leave your phone, and we never receive it. The one exception is if you choose to attach a photograph to a problem report, which is described below and never happens without you asking for it.
Prices and card data
Card details and daily prices are published as ordinary files on kachimi.app, and the app downloads them the same way a browser downloads a web page. These requests tell us nothing about you or your collection: the app asks for the same file every other user asks for, and it never sends us the card you are looking at.
Like any website, our host records standard technical information for those requests, including IP address, time and user agent. We use it only to keep the service running and to spot abuse.
Problem reports
If the scanner gets a card wrong, you can report it. That report is the only thing the app ever sends us, and it only sends when you tap the button. It contains what you chose to tell us: the kind of problem, the conditions the photo was taken in, the card we guessed, the card it actually was, and any note you typed.
We store a salted one way hash of your IP address rather than the address itself, purely to stop one machine flooding the table, along with the country your request came from. The hash cannot be reversed back into your IP address.
Purchases
Kachimi Pro is sold through Apple's In App Purchase. Apple handles the payment, and we never see your card number, billing address or Apple Account details. We receive only an anonymous identifier telling the app whether a subscription is active. Subscription management, including cancellation and refunds, is handled by Apple in your App Store account settings.
What we do not do
- We do not sell, rent or share your data with anybody.
- We do not use advertising or advertising identifiers.
- We do not include analytics, attribution or tracking software.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites, so App Tracking Transparency does not apply.
- We do not build a profile of you.
Camera and photo library
The app asks for camera access so you can photograph a card, and for photo library access only if you choose to identify a card from a picture you already took. Both are used for that purpose alone. You can withdraw either permission at any time in the iOS Settings app, and the rest of Kachimi keeps working without them.
Children
Kachimi is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Because the app has no accounts and collects no personal information from anyone, there is nothing for us to hold in the first place.
Your rights
Since your collection never leaves your phone and we hold no account, the fastest way to erase everything Kachimi has of yours is to delete the app. For the limited data described above, including problem reports, you can write to [email protected] and ask what we hold, ask for it to be deleted, or ask for a copy. Depending on where you live you may have these rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA. We do not sell personal information as those laws define it.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top and, when the change is significant, say so in the app. Continuing to use Kachimi after a change means you accept the updated policy.
Trademarks
Kachimi is an independent app and is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by any card publisher, game developer, grading company or marketplace. Card images, names and logos belong to their owners and appear only to identify real cards and sets.
